Beverly Birkitt, M.S., President and Principal Ecologist for Birkitt Environmental Services, Inc., has over 35 years of experience in the environmental field including 10 years with state and local agencies and 10 years with a major international consulting firm. She founded Birkitt Environmental Services, Inc. (Birkitt) in 1996. Ms. Birkitt obtained her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of South Florida and her Master of Science degree from Florida State University. She has served as faculty for the Florida Chamber of Commerce’s Environmental Permitting Short Course since 1989 with a focus on wetlands permitting, mitigation, and mitigation banking. She is a member of the Florida Association of Mitigation Bankers. Ms. Birkitt has been involved with wetlands permitting and mitigation and mitigation banking in Florida for over 25 years. She designed and permitted a 7,000 acre mitigation bank in North Florida among others and is a managing member of the Tampa Bay Mitigation Bank, a 161 acre mitigation bank in southwest Florida. Her experience includes the design and permitting of over 20,000 acres of wetlands restoration for mitigation throughout the state and numerous feasibility studies for prospective mitigation banks. She is currently providing permitting and mitigation design services for the Key West and Marathon International Airports in the Florida Keys along with multiple private and public development projects in the Tampa Bay area.
